Terms of Service
Effective May 13, 2026
These terms cover your use of Altro. They're written to be readable. The short version: use the app respectfully, what you create is yours, and we're not liable for things outside our control.
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Altro ("the app", "Altro", "we", "us"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
2. Who can use Altro
You may use Altro if all of the following are true:
- You are at least 13 years old.
- You can form a legally binding contract under the laws of your jurisdiction.
- You aren't barred from using the app under applicable law.
3. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Don't share your password, and let us know quickly if you suspect unauthorized access. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
4. Your content
The rankings, photos, comments, and notes you create in Altro ("Your Content") belong to you. You retain all rights to it.
To run the app, you grant Altro a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and process Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you and the people you've shared it with (per your visibility settings). This license ends when you delete the content or your account.
You're responsible for Your Content. Don't upload anything you don't have the right to share, anything illegal, or anything that violates the Acceptable Use rules below.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use Altro to:
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate other people.
- Upload illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or violent content.
- Scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to access data you're not authorized to see.
- Spam, manipulate rankings, or interfere with other users' experience.
- Use the app to violate any law or third party's rights.
We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.
6. Our content
The Altro app, design, branding, weekly curated recommendations, and code belong to us. You may use the app personally as intended, but you don't get a license to copy, redistribute, or build derivative products from our work without written permission.
7. Third-party services
Altro integrates with third-party services (Supabase, Mapbox, Apple, Expo, and others described in our Privacy Policy). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms. We're not responsible for issues caused by a third-party service we don't control.
8. Changes to the service
Altro is actively developed. We may add features, change features, or remove features. We'll try to give reasonable notice for changes that materially affect you, but we can't guarantee any specific feature will remain available.
9. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability) survive termination.
10. Disclaimers
Altro is provided "as is" and "as available." We do our best to keep the app working, accurate, and secure, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service, bug-free operation, or that recommendations will match your taste perfectly. Travel decisions are yours.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Altro and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including lost data, lost trips, or anything else arising out of your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which, for free users, is zero).
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold Altro harmless from claims arising out of Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third party's rights.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Altro is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of that jurisdiction.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the app evolves. The "Effective" date at the top reflects the most recent version. If changes are material, we'll notify you inside the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
